I really like that there are still people who go back to the original maps for something that isn't a minigame. I think it's really nice to see someone just go back and revamp one of the original maps we all know and love. So, right off the bat, I give you props for revamping our old Guardian.

The map looks pretty neat. Regardless of the un-user friendliness of the original map pack, you have forged ahead and added sections to the map, like your floating bridges. While not the most innovative thing in the universe, I like that you used pallets for a more malleable environment. That's pretty cool. In addition, you seem to have added a lot of power cores and batteries into the mix. I'm sure this while provide a good incentive for players to stay on the move.

Now, I have one major complaint against this map. I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to bag on a part of this map I'm sure you like: the custom powerup. I like taht you went back and redid Guardian for jsut a straight-up new map. No special minigames or anything. However, the map loses about half of it's value as a nice new competitive map when you add in a required special gametype. A lot of people are gonna see this and go "oh hellz yes, a new Guardian! I'm gonna go play this and... oh, required gametype. Nevermind." I know it sounds harsh, but it is the unfortunate truth in the world of Forge. Unless they have a REALLY good reason, people do not like to DL gametypes. Ever.

Replace the custom with a good ol' Overshield or something and I'm sure this map can rach it's full potential. Still, good map and good initiavtive. You have inspired me to go mess with my favorite old map. Be back soon =)

3.5/5
