2v2 Face Off F.A.Q - Read This
2v2 Face Off F.A.Q
It is important that you read this FAQ carefully. However, if you have a question which hasn't been asked, feel free to post it here!
This shall be a compilation of all Frequently Asked and Miscellaneous questions relating to the 2v2 Tournament. Make sure you read all of this and understand the rules (FOUND HERE) so that you don't make a fool of yourself by asking unnecessary questions.
That being said, lets get on with the show:
Contents
- Important Information
- Entry Conditions
- Tournament Setup
- Map Information
- Miscellaneous Questions
Important Information
Are there any specific rules we need to follow?
Of course. As with any tournament we try to keep it as fair as possible; therefore, in the interest of fairness, we have laid some ground rules for you all: 2v2 Faceoff Rules
I have school starting soon. When will the tournament start? How long will it take?
We want to offer the best possible battlegrounds for the 2v2 Faceoff, so the tournament will begin when we are satisfied that we have all the bugs worked out of the maps. The tournament will have many rounds, so it will likely take several weeks. But we will be sure to allow plenty of time in between rounds.
Are we allowed to have a partner that is NOT part of Forge Hub?
No, for your team to be accepted each member is required to have an active Forge Hub account. It only takes a couple of minutes to register and its Free. You are also both required to have an XBox Live account. 'Guest' players are NOT allowed.
Also, how many team spaces are there?
That will depend on the amount of people that sign up. We can compensate for any amount.
Where do we sign-up?
Click Here to go to the Sign-up thread. Make sure you read the rules, terms and conditions before you enter.
How can we find each member of each team?
The Unofficial Team Listings shows the entire list of teams, and there profiles, this will help you to meet up with them, and get your matches going.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Entry Conditions
Are there any Minimum Entry Requirements?
All we ask is that you have an active ForgeHub membership. If you don't have one, its free and easy to register!
Do I need a minimum post count or minimum rep in order to compete?
No, absolutely not. Every ForgeHub member is eligable to join.
Are Staff Members allowed to compete?
Yes. Just because they helped make this tournament happen for you doesn't mean they should be excluded.
Even the ones who made the maps? Thats a little unfair. Won't they have an advantage?
Not at all. We will release the maps a week in advance so that everyone has ample time to practice on them, so you should be well-versed in the nuances of each map by the time your matchups come. If you are serious about winning, then you will be willing to put the effort of practising in.
Do I HAVE to have a partner to enter?
Yes. However, if you are on your own and don't have a partner you can go to the Free Agents sub-forum and post an advert saying you're available.

Tournament Setup
Will there be prizes for the winning team?
Yes, of course. These are to be decided in due course and will be announced soon enough.
What is the tournament structure? How will it be played?
The tournament will begin with a 'Double Elimination' phase, culminating in a Single Elimination final.
- Each team will be assigned a group.
- You stay in this group for the first phase of the tournament, playing through the double elimination ladder.
- Once a victor is determined here, the winning team from each group is seeded into a normal Single Elimination Ladder. This is the finals.
- Teams will play through the Single Elimination Ladder until one team remains the Victor.
- In the early stages, if you're knocked out in your first match you could still enter the finals due to the Double Elimination structure. However, this is not the case in the Finals. Once you're out, you're permanently out.
What is 'Double Elimination'? How does that work?
Here is an excellent description, showing an example table et-al at Wikipedia:
Wikipedia: Double Elimination Tournament
What happens if my partner doesn't show up? Will we be out? Waaahhh?!?!
Basically, you have an entire WEEK to organise a your matchup. On top of that you will have ANOTHER week before that to practice on the new map. There really is no excuse for no-shows. Only under the most extreme of circumstances will re-matches or other such things occur. This will be discussed when and IF it occurs.
What Gametypes will we play?
Each Map will be played on Slayer, and 2 other Gametypes. The choices of those gametypes could be anything. We have maps that will be playing CTF, VIP, Oddball, KoTH, even Assault. So don't worry, we will be playing a vast range of Gametypes. The list of currently released and finalized Tournament gametypes can be found Here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Map Information
Will this tournament feature all new maps built by some of the most experienced and sexiest Forgers on Forge Hub?
Yes. This wouldn't be half as good if we didn't have some mighty new maps from some of your favourite names, now would it?
What maps are going to be available? Who made them?
They will be revealed week by week as the tournament progresses, starting with Urban. The creators will be named when their map comes out.
I have an awesome map i think you should consider. Where can i send you it?
You cannot. The maps are already chosen and created by specially picked people. If you weren't asked to make a map, you cannot enter one.
Will there be a competition for the community to make maps? It would really bring the community into the whole thing, wondering if they were gonna get a map in! =)
You're right, it would be really good. But there are a zillion reasons why it wouldn't work. Trust us, the people who have made the maps you will play are some of the best around, and the maps have tested so many times that if the floor and scenery in Foundry could be worn down by running on it, you'd be playing on an unrecognisable mess (fortunately this is a digital world, so that doesn't happen). Really though, as great as we know you guys are at making maps, this is a 2v2 competition, not a map-making competition (*cough* *cough*)
Will I need the Heroic/Legendary Map Pack? What about Cold Storage?
In a word, yes. Both Heroic and Legendary are required to enter the tournament. This allows us the maximum possible scope for all maps. Cold Storage (which is free ... go get it now if you don't have it) will not be used.
How big are the maps? Are we going to be getting 2v2 on full-size Avalanche?
Maps will vary in size and structure to offer a varied game experience match-to-match. All of the maps will be adequately sized to offer a challenge, while not restricting the player.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miscellaneous Questions
Will you be broadcasting matches live? Especially the final, that would be winsauce divided by zero!!1!
It would, wouldn't it?! Unfortunately there are issues with Spawning/Lag/Unfair Advantages/Host etc, which basically mean this isn't viable. For the competition to be fair we cannot allow a third party into the matches. Unless we find some other way of doing this, as unfortunate as it is, it won't happen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: This will be continuously updated as more questions are asked and answers are given.

Are the drawings like random, or are they hand picked, because me and my mate want a bit of challenge.
Also, how many team spaces are there?

No, for your team to be accepted you are required to have two ForgeHub accounts and two Xbox Live accounts. Xbox Live Guests are not allowed.

They will most likely be a mix of both. Don't worry, you will get your challenge.

Two Questions...
1. Why do I and my partner have to have the same gamertag? Doesn't it cost money?
2. I'm a little confused, so we can just play anytime with the people we are assigned too? Do you contact us throw ForgeHub as to which team we play?

1. Each of you have to have seperate gamertags.
2. Somethink like that. We will give you a few days in which to contact your opponents and organise a time.
